Pope Leo XIV will be in Lourdes on Sunday 27 September 2026. A historic visit: it's the first time in nearly twenty years that a pope has come to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes. Here's what is known about the programme and how to plan your visit.

The dates: a trip to France from 25 to 28 September 2026

The Lourdes visit is part of Pope Leo XIV's apostolic journey to France:

• 25 and 26 September: Paris
• 27 September: Lourdes
• 28 September: Metz

Lourdes is therefore the pastoral stop on Sunday 27 September 2026.

The programme in Lourdes (what is known)

According to the first official announcements, on Sunday 27 September the Pope is expected to:

• visit the Grotto of Massabielle, site of the apparitions;
• celebrate an open-air Mass in the afternoon, on the Sanctuary's great meadow, open to all.
